Your host at leisure.

Hello, I’m Hera (they/them). I'm a grad student at the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, working with Georg Zetzsche. Before that, I studied computer science and philosophy at the University of Oxford, supervised (formally) by Michael Benedikt and (informally) by Alessio Mansutti. I'm currently working on the complexity of models of computation, and have been figuring out the definability and decidability of certain arithmetic theories, particularly Presburger arithmetic and its derivatives. My master's project was on finding elementary fragments of Semënov arithmetic (that's the extension of Presburger arithmetic with a powers-of-two function). More broadly, I’m interested in all things logical, be that automata theory, model theory, set theory, and related fields.

On this website you can find my publications, blog, and some info about me; that should all be in the navigation section on the left. If you’re interested in contacting me, then do send me an email! I’d be happy to chat, be it related to computer science or otherwise. My email address is (($\lambda x$.$x$.brown0707@gmail.com) hera).
